What is a Flea Market?
A flea market is a type of open-air market where vendors sell a wide range of used goods, antiques, vintage items, collectibles, and other items at low prices. The term “flea” comes from the French word “fleuret,” meaning “small market,” and the name was later adopted in English to describe a type of secondhand market.
Flea markets typically take place on weekends, and vendors rent booths or tables to display their merchandise. Customers can browse the different stalls and purchase items directly from the sellers. Flea markets can be found in various locations such as parking lots, fields, or indoor spaces, and they are often known for their unique and eclectic selection of goods.
What is a Swap Meet?
A swap meet is similar to a flea market in that it is a type of open-air market where vendors sell a wide range of items, including used goods, antiques, vintage items, and collectibles. However, the key difference between a flea market and a swap meet is that a swap meet is primarily focused on buying, selling, and trading items of specific interest to collectors and hobbyists.
For example, a swap meet might specialize in items related to car enthusiasts, such as automotive parts, tools, and accessories. Similarly, a swap meet might specialize in items related to stamp collecting, model train sets, or comic books. The emphasis in a swap meet is often on trading or bartering, rather than simply buying and selling, and it is common for buyers and sellers to negotiate prices or exchange items of similar value.
Swap meets often attract a devoted following of collectors and enthusiasts who are looking for rare or hard-to-find items, and they are usually held in outdoor locations, such as parking lots or fairgrounds, on weekends or during special events.

Along with the live music for entertainment, you will also find donkey rides (I think they were donkeys) and carnival-type rides as seen above.
