Homemade Pickle Recipe – Skip the Canning

Homemade Pickle Recipe

My husband loves pickles and so does my daughter. But, my daughter doesn’t like the store bought pickles – she likes Chef Bob’s easy peasy homemade pickles.

I am not sure how the “homemade pickles” got started in my home but I am sure we were out, had an excess of cucumbers and Bob had an idea. It’s nothing complicated and I am sure many others have done the same for this fail-proof way of making homemade pickles.

Cucumbers are $.14 right now (and we bought a lot of them) and that is a heck of a lot cheaper than a jar of pickles at the store. {For those who don’t know I am a HUGE price match shopper at the store to buy lots of ingredients for a small fraction of the original price.}

This method is so easy to and the prep time is less than it takes for you to read this short article on homemade pickles!

Chef Bob does the following – take note, it’s really really complicated:

Home Made Pickle Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 jar of Claussen pickle juice in jar

Instructions

  1. Take the jar of the juice only
  2. Wash 1 cucumber
  3. Cut in half
  4. Quarter the 2 halves
  5. Place the 8 pieces in the jar
  6. Wait at least 4 day but he recommends at least a week
  7. Don't use the juice more than 1 -2 times (as recommended by Bob)
