The Doors of San Miguel de Allende

The Doors of San Miguel de Allende

While strolling through the streets of San Miguel it was obvious that the hand carved doors were going to be photographed and part of my San Miguel de Allende series.

It was a brilliant idea.

So creative I thought.

Well, that was before I got home and started researching only to find out that not only has the idea been done but there are books and other articles published about these famous doors of San Miguel!

So my door of San Miguel isn’t the first but that won’t stop me from sharing a few of my favorites with you!

I have A LOT of images to go through and will place my top favorites here and then I will post the remainder to a dedicated Pinterest board to share all of my photos with you. If you have photos to share let me know and I will pin the to my board!

You never know what you will find behind the doors. They may enter directly into a home, a courtyard into a business, or open up to a driveway. It was fun to see how drab some of these doors looked from the outside and then see what gorgeous entryways behind them.

A small percentage of the doors are painted like above. I think I prefer to natural look to the painted. Your opinion? Comment below!

A lot of the doors you will see have door knockers and knobs as unique as the carvings. Above is are brass hands holding a wreath for guest to use when knocking on this beautiful door.
